World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated on 5 June every year, and is the United Nation’s principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. First held in 1974, it has been a flagship campaign for raising awareness on emerging from environmental issues to marine pollution, human overpopulation, and global warming, to sustainable consumption and wildlife crime. World Environment Day has grown to become a global platform for public outreach, with participation from over 143 countries annually. Each year, WED has a new theme that major corporations, NGOs, communities, governments and all celebrities worldwide adopt to advocate environmental causes.

The theme for 2019 is “Beat Air pollution”. The host nation is China. This theme was chosen as it has been killing about 7 million people annually.

The College Principal, Dr.P.Nazeer inaugurated the world environment day observations by planting a sapling in the college campus on 06-06-2019. The NSS programme officers Mr Asseem J and Dr Shijina A.S and other teachers, NSS volunteers and other students participated in the programme. About 300 saplings were distributed to all the staff and students of the College.
