Mannaniya College of Arts & Science is an outstanding educational institution affiliated to the University of Kerala. Started in 1995 at Pangode, a remote and underdeveloped village, 50 kilometers east of Thiruvananthapuram, owes its existence to the far-sighted vision of Jamiya Mannaniya Islamiya Charitable Society, a body of Muslim religious scholars. The campus spreads on about 16 acres of picturesque land. The greenery and the scenery in and around the college provide a serene and tranquil atmosphere for teaching and learning. The college started functioning from 03.07.1995 and classes for the 1st batch of students commenced on 11.08.1995. In the beginning there were only three courses viz. B. A. Islamic History, B.Sc. Polymer Chemistry, B.Com. Co-operation. Later, in the year 1998, B.Com Tourism & Travel Management Course was also added.

In 2013 M.Com Course was started.The first batch of graduates came out in 1998 and since then hundred of graduates have been coming out of the portals of Mannaniya. It is gratifying that they have played            a seminal role in the intellectual development of the society in various capacities. They are the torchbearers of the renaissance launched by the Mannaniya Movement.

The college now caters to the needs of the students of the hilly Panchayats of Thiruvananthapuram district, cutting across the barriers of class, caste, creed and religion. The college which enjoys 2F and 12B status of the U. G. C. provides higher education to about 500 students in four, Under Graduate Courses. The college has also been granted the Minority status by National Minority Commission. The college is now gearing up for the accreditation from NAAC. Its Objectives are:

  • Uplifting of the educationally backward community, especially  Muslims of the area.
  • Empowerment of the downtrodden and backward classes.
  • Education of women.
  • Promotion of Secularism and Democracy.
  • Moral uplift and trust in God.
  • Communal amity.

To translate this objective into action, Mannaniya College of Arts & Science seeks to offer liberal education to all especially to women and the financially poor and inspire them to become fruitful citizens. The college stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character formation. The College had been performing remarkably well in curricular and extra- curricular activities since its inception.
