1. International Seminar on Sustainable Development, MCASIS -2019

It was organized by IQAC and the Department of Chemistry of Mannaniya College of Arts & Science on the focal theme of “Sustainable Development Vision 2030” introduced by UNESCO. The programme began with a prayer recital by the students of the department. Dr. Mercy Raj. C, Head, Department of Chemistry gave the welcome address and Dr. M.S Noufal, Associate Professor and the Principal in Charge gave the presidential address.The inauguration and keynote address of the seminar was given by Mr. Sajeer Fazil, Alumni of Southern University of California, Research and Programme Engineer, Qualcomm Ltd. California, USA.  Felicitations were given by Dr. P. Ashok Nair, IQAC Coordinator, and Dr. Dilshad Bin Ashraf, Joint Coordinator. The vote of thanks was furnished by Dr. Shiji Fazil, the Programme coordinator, MCASIS- 2019.

2. World Wetland Day 2019 Celebrations

As per the Programme Schedule, KSCSTE sponsored World Wetland Day 2019 celebrations was conducted on 5^th and 6^th February 2019 at the college seminar hall. The programme offered a good platform for the students to understand the role and significance of this unique ecosystem and also to express their ideas and concepts through poster exhibitions and paper presentations. The programme  commenced at 9.30 am with free registration. The Inaugural session began by 10.00 am and then Dr. Mercy Raj. C, Head, Department of Chemistry delivered the welcome speech. Presidential address was furnished by our respected Principal (i/c)  Sri. A.H. Badrudeen.  The programme was inaugurated by our Chief Guest, Dr. Shaji. E, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, University of Kerala.  Felicitations were given by IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Parameswaran Ashok Nair, and Vice Principal, Dr. M.S. Noufal.  Dr.Shiji Fazil, Programme Coordinator furnished the vote of thanks.

3. World Ozone Day Celebration-2018

As part of the World Ozone Day celebration, Chemistry Association organised a quiz competition on the topic “Environmental Chemistry” on 17^th September 2018, for the degree students of Mannaniya College. The welcome speech is given by Dr. Mercy Raj C, HOD and convener of the programme. The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. M.S. Noufal, Associate Professor and Principal in charge.

4. State Level Seminar on Fascinating world of Nano; 2018-19

Department of Chemistry, Mannaniya College of Arts & Science, Pangode organised a State level seminar on Fascinating world of Nano on 24th September 2018. The goal of the seminar was to give an insight into the Fascinating world of Nanochemistry and to review the current state of knowledge in the field of nano science and technology along with their novel applications and challenges. The Inaugural function started at 10.00 A.M with a prayer song by the students of Department of Chemistry. The Head of the Department and Convener of the programme, Dr. Mercy Raj C welcomed the gathering. The Principal, Sri.A.H Badrudeen presided over the function. The seminar was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Syam Chand S S, Assistant professor, Research and PG Department of Chemistry, University College, Trivandrum, and he emphasized the need for such educational programmes and suggested that such events should be held every year and efforts should be made to focus on the seminar providing advanced training on specific topics. Dr. Parameswaran Ashok Nair, IQAC Coordinator, Department of Mathematics was the facilitator of the programme.

5. Association Inauguration (2017-2018)

The activities of the association were formally inaugurated on 19th February 2018 by Sri. A H Badrudeen, Associate Professor and Principal in charge, Mannaniya College of Arts & Science, Pangode. In the meeting, heads of various Departments, faculties, staff, students from our institution and other colleges are participated.

6. Oral presentation competition

Chemistry Association of Mannaniya College proudly conducted an intercollegiate paper presentation competition on the topics of Green Chemistry and Nano Chemistry on 19th February 2018.  M.Sc and B.Sc project work were also included for the oral presentation. Both UG and PG students from various colleges and research institutions participated in the programme. Kum. Aleesha Vahab, Department of Bio Polymer Science, CUSAT emerged as the winner of this competition. Alfiya U, University College, Trivandrum and Simi A.S, S N College, Kollam were shared the second position in the competition. Third prize were awarded jointly to Aswathy Unny D R, Christian College, Chengannur, Smt. Noushiba Naaz , teacher of GHSS, Chithara and Ameersha, Mannaniya College. Cash prize and a certificate of citation were given to first, second and third place winners, respectively. Participation certificates were given to all the competitors.

7. Seminar on Recent Trends in Green Chemistry and Nanochemistry

To boost up the academic and research interest among the students, a state level seminar on recent trends in green chemistry and nano-chemistry was organized on 19th February 2018 at the college seminar hall. Dr. Mercy Raj C, Associate professor and  Head was the coordinator of the seminar. Two sessions of lectures were arranged. The sessions were handled by Dr. Azif A, Assistant Professor, Research and PG Department of Chemistry, University College, Thiruvananthapuram.

8. Dr. M O Anil Kumar Memorial Inter School Quiz Competition; 2018-19

An Inter School Chemistry Quiz competition was organized by the Department of Chemistry, in association with IQAC in fond remembrance of our first HOD, Dr. M. O Anil Kumar in the College Seminar Hall on Wednesday, 13^thFebruary 2019. The Quiz master was Dr. M R Sudarsanakumar, Associate Professor of Chemistry and former Principal, M.G College, Trivandrum. Students of classes XI, and XII from Science steam of 11 Schools namely GHSS, Bharathannoor; GHSS,Chithara; Govt HSS, Kilimanoor; RRV Girls, Kilimanoor; Govt HSS, Kadakkal, Mother India Public School, Kallara; GBHSS,Mithirmala; MMHSS, Nilamel; MTM Senior Secondary School, Pangode; IQBAl HSS, Peringamala and GKSGMV HSS, Vellanad participated in the quiz competition. Each team consisted of two students and 20 teams participated in the quiz contest.
