Mannaniya College of Arts and Science is an esteemed educational institution, affiliated to the University of Kerala, established in 1995.The College is aptly located at Pangode, a historic village in the vicinity of the fringes of the Reserve forests of Western Ghats, bordering the Thiruvanthapuram district of Kerala. The institution owes its existence to the prophetic vision of a congregation of erudite and pious Muslim scholars of Jamia Mannaniya Islamiya Charitable Society. Nestled in the lush greenery of plantations, thus scenic campus sprawls across 16 acres of picturesque land providing a pleasantly serene ambience fostering the teaching learning process. The College became functional on 03.07.1995 and classes for the first batch of students commenced from 11.08.1995. At the time of inception there were only three courses viz. BA Islamic History, B.Sc. Polymer Chemistry and B.Com Co-operation. The Institution has gradually extended its horizon by enhancing the quantity and quality through competence and flair.

               In 1999, B.Com Travel and Tourism was introduced and in 2013, the college started offering M.Com. B.Sc Polymer Chemistry was converted into B.Sc Chemistry in the year 2014. The college  enjoys 2(F) and 12(B) status of the UGC since 2004 and it was granted the minority status by the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) in December 2010.

                  The first batch of  students graduated  in 1998 and since then hundreds of graduates have been stepping out of the magnificent portals of Mannaniya. It is gratifying that are playing a seminal role in the intellectual development of the society in various capabilities. They are the torchbearers of the renaissance envisioned by the Mannaniya Movement. The College now provides higher education to about 600 students hailing from  the hilly panchayats of Thiruvananthapuram district, cutting across the barriers of class, caste, creed and religion. 

Our Objectives are:

  • to uplift of the educationally challenged communities, especially the Muslims minorities.
  • to empower the backward classes and the downtrodden.
  • to provide education to women and the tribal communities.
  • to promote the ideals of democracy and secularism.
  • to advocate moral uprightness and trust in God.
  • to preserve communal amity.

               In order to translate these objectives into action, Mannaniya College of Arts & Science offers liberal education to all, especially to women and  economically weaker sections of the society, inspiring them to become academically proficient, financially independent and socially committed citizens. The college stands for excellence in academics, skill development and character formation. It has been performing remarkably well in curricular and extra-curricular activities since its inception. We are proud that the college has always been a glimmer of hope to the deserving, yet socially and economically challenged students – a policy envisaged by the Jamia Mannaniya Charitable Society. The college is stepping into its glorious 25th year of academic excellence in 2020.
