Mannaniya College of Arts & Science has a glorious history of spreading Higher Education in the western hilly areas of Thiruvananthapuram District. It situates at Pangode, a historical Village some fifty kilometres away from Thiruvananthapuram. Generally the people of this area are sports loving and actively participating in sports and games. Within a short period, the College has achieved many laurels in curricular and extracurricular field.

Department of Physical Education , which is started 1995, is an inter-disciplinary subject involving study of Education, Human Physiology, Anatomy and Social Sciences. It is the foundation for life long fitness and high performance in competitive sports. In addition to Health & Fitness Education, an Open course offered by the Department to fifth semester students of our college, offering regular training to the students in Volleyball,Table Tennis, Badminton, cricket, chess, Kabaddi, Yoga, etc.The department has also rich experience of organising University Level Sports activities such as volleyball, chess etc.In order to increase the physical activity of the students, very recently, the department started a gymnasium and provided training to all the students.

It is a matter of great pride that the students of this College have excelled in sports and games especially in volleyball. Our College is maintaining a very good Volleyball team from the inception of the College. Every year one to three players from our College from Volleyball team represent Kerala University Team for the Inter University competitions. During the academic year 2001-2002, Our College were the winners in the Kerala University Inter Collegiate Inter zonal Volleyball Championship and three players from the College team placed in the Kerala University Inter Collegiate Volleyball Men team for the All India Inter University Volleyball Championship. In the same year Kerala University were the winners of All India Inter University Volleyball Men Championship held at Annamalai University after a long gap of 23 years. It was also a proud moment for the College, because the captain and two other players were from our College.
